Smoking pleasure not happiness

For non smokers watching those that like to have the odd cigarette every now and then would imagine that the smokers actually get some sort of happiness out of it. But recent research from the Peninsula Medical School in the UK would appear to have put this down as a myth, as it seem that the actual practice of smoking does not make the smoker happy at all.

Around ten thousand people who are aged over fifty took place in the research which was known as The English Longitudinal Study of Aging. This where they could actually monitor how smokers and non smokers felt etc.

It was found that the smokers only appeared to have an average level of pleasure and in fact lower levels of satisfaction in their lives, when compared to that of those who did not smoke at all. The conclusion being that initially smokers may feel moderate pleasure when they are lighting a cigarette, but this very quickly fades away in a similar way as their cash does.
