E211 to be dropped from Coke

An additive which has been connected to hyperactivity and even with damaging DNA in children is to be phased out in the production process of Diet Coke.

The additive is called Sodium Benzoate or as many people will see it on the cans as E211, this is a sort of preservative which when it is added to sparkling drinks will prevent the growth of mould.

The Coca Cola Company began the withdrawal of this addictive in January of this year, and it is expected that by the end of 2008 no can or bottle will have any traces of E211.

However other products such as Fanta, Dr Pepper, Sprite and Oasis will still have E211 in as they have note been able to find a suitable replacement yet and as for the regular Coke, this does not have it in anyway.
