New drug boost for cancer sufferers

A revolutionary new drug, which uses the body’s own immune cells, has left some cancer patients completely free of the disease.

These results have been met with excitement after a trial of thirty-eight patients who suffer from non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma saw fifty per cent of the patients see a reduction in the tumours, while four patients had complete regression from the disease.

Although these trials had been carried out on patients suffering from blood related cancers, it is believed that the method of treatment can easily be applied to other areas that suffer from cancers.

Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma claims the lives of 150,000 people each year and it is estimated, that there are around a million sufferers at any one time in the UK.

However, this drug if approved is a lot less costly than any of the other treatments being used at the moment, which is very promising.
