Patient dies because doctors too busy
Following a routine operation to remove gallstones, doctors were too busy to check a 29 year old woman patient as she bled to death.
Despite her cries for help and pleas for water the medical staff still ignored her cries for help an inquest into her death was told.
Even the pleas of the woman’s mother had no effect on a doctor who was at the bedside, he just claimed that he was too busy and had a hundred patients to look after.
After five hours of struggling to cope with pain, headaches and fever like symptoms Karen Doherty died. Yet this death was totally preventable, but a catalogue of mistakes including poor record keeping and failures in communication between staff.
