Reversal of heart disease

Heart disease is one of the main worries of people as they get older, but of course by then the damage has already been done and there is no chance of reversing that damage, or so we all thought.

Research being carried out by a team in the US and Germany have managed to halt the advance of heart disease in mice, in actual fact in some cases they have even managed to reverse the damage done by heart disease.

These findings give hope to the many people, who suffer from this problem, but it is still in the early stages and there is a long way to go before a treatment is found.

The research is focussed on microRNA’s these help to regulate the genes and one particular microRNA is responsible for a heart cell that provides structure to the organ.
